MEET ARIANE GOLD FOUNDER OF GOLDNO.8

Q: What inspired you to start goldno.8? Why handbags?

A: Of everything that I learned in my years as a fashion designer, the most important by far, is that many women don’t want to be told what to wear and how to wear it. They want to have a say in how they style themselves, AND they love being included in the design process. I came up with the concept for goldno.8 with all of this in mind. goldno.8 gives our customers the tools to create a bag as cool an individual as they are. They can trick it out or clean it up, their goldno.8 will transform with their mood, outfit and tastes!

Q: What does goldno.8 mean? How did you come up with the name?

A: Gold is my last name, and I combined it with my favorite number 8. 8 is the perfect number – symmetrical any way that you flip it – just like our bags!

Q: What are your future plans for goldno.8? Are you working on a new SS19 Collection, collaborations, or both?

A: I am beyond excited about everything that 2019 has in store for goldno.8! Because of the incredible response we have had to our Pop Up store, we have decided to make 332 Bleecker street in NYC goldno.8’s first permanent store!

Q: Are there new trends you are seeing and participating in?

A: Customization, Customization, Customization!

Q: What does magic mean to you? How do you spread your own personal magic?

A: I am an inherently happy and optimistic person – and I think that’s my personal super power. I try to spread good energy wherever I go!

Q: Who is your dream client? And why?

A: Ashley Longshore. I am pretty obsessed with her - I love her art, and her irreverence. I feel like we speak the same language.

Q: Who is the goldno.8 woman

A: Because our customer gets to design her bag to suit her lifestyle, needs, and taste, goldno.8 appeals to an amazing range of women. She is urban or suburban. She is on the move and wants to look fabulous whether watching the kids, heading to work, or meeting up with friends for dinner.

Q: What did you want to be when you were a child?

A: From a very young age, I knew that I wanted to be a fashion designer. I moved to New York City to attend college at the Fashion Institute of Technology and got my first job as an assistant designer at Isaac Mizrahi straight out of school. As they say the rest is history, and I have worked in fashion ever since!
